portraits with window light.

I have always had an interest in taking portraits even though its really tuff especially when you are using natural light. Another had part about it is, finding someone to pause for you, but so far i have been luck with friends. I think randon pics are also very interesting beacuse you are capturing the true sence of a being. Am going to try and explore all those options and hoping to learn more as i go.

  1. Hi Hilmy....

I think you are on to something really good. The thought has crossed my mind too... I think taking candid pictures of people is even better b/c they aren't trying... there's something really forced when you sit someone down with expectations. From my experience people become really self-conscious and its hard to get what your looking for.

I'm a chicken so I chose the topic "Intimacy" kind of loosely... I'm hoping I can incorporate some crafty "people posing" with some inanimate objects or landscapes that inspire intimate thoughts if you will.

I'll have photos posted by the end of the week. I'm looking forward to what you come up with as well. Good luck!!!!!!

    Be well...

  2. "From my experience people become really self-conscious and its hard to get what your looking for." Michelle is right... but that's where the skill and patience of the photographer comes in... You need to take control and patiently wait the person out if they are carrying on at all...

Do avoid direct sun on the skin... it is generally too harsh.. move in close, use your zoom... have them face the light... that's all for starters...

  3. Thanks mitchelle, I look fwd for what you are gonna come up with. As for taking potraits, your absolutely right. It is kinda hard to get the true faces and expressions when the models are aware of what you are trying to do, but will see how it goes so far.

  4. One of the reasons is that your model is acting like a model.. she is getting into the role of a fashion model... your job is to try and not let that happen... to search for something truer...
